The Big State League is an independent professional baseball league which will begin play in May, 2008. The BSL plans to open its inaugural season with six (6) teams playing an 80-game schedule from May to September, with a 2 team/best of 5 series to determine the league championship. All teams will be locally-owned, and located in rural and resort markets throughout Texas.

The Big State League will primarily feature younger baseball talent having the potential to progress to the major league level. The games will be played in new or newly-refurbished venues located in the hearts of the communities involved, offering inexpensive family entertainment in a professional setting.
